S&J was commissioned to execute an extensive roofing renovation on a residential property in the upscale Bloomfield area of Bath. This project encompassed a main roof renewal, the installation of seven Velux windows, the renewal of facias, gutters, and downpipes, and the integration of solar panels.

Scope of Work:

Main Roof Renewal:

– We commenced by removing the existing roof covering, treating the exposed timber rafters with a 5-star preservation spray to ensure their longevity. The roof was then re-felted with Roofshield, the only fully breathable felt on the market, providing superior ventilation and protection. We replaced the battens with high-quality tanalised timber and re-tiled the roof with premium natural slate tiles, fixed securely with copper fastenings for a durable and aesthetically pleasing finish.

Velux Windows Installation:

To enhance natural light and ventilation within the property, we installed seven top-of-the-line Velux windows. Each window was fitted using the appropriate flashing kits to ensure a seamless integration with the new roof, enhancing both functionality and style.

Facia, Gutter, and Downpipe Renewal:

The existing facias, gutters, and downpipes were removed and replaced with a Brett Martin Cast Iron Effect guttering system. This upgrade not only provides excellent durability and performance but also complements the architectural style of the property. The deep flow gutter system ensures optimal water management, while the new facias add a polished finish to the roofline.

Solar Panels Installation

As part of our commitment to sustainable building practices, we integrated high-efficiency solar panels into the roof design. These panels are strategically placed to maximise sunlight exposure and energy generation, providing the homeowners with a renewable energy source and reducing their carbon footprint.
