The project began with a visit to our Walcot Street showroom, where the client explored our range of roofing materials and bespoke finishes. Impressed by the quality and attention to detail, they appointed S&J Bath to carry out a complete transformation of their existing roof.
Transition to Traditional Slate
The original roof was constructed using heavy concrete tiles, which were not in keeping with the property’s character. As part of the renewal, these were replaced with premium natural slate tiles a more appropriate and historically accurate material that would have reflected the roof’s original construction.
This upgrade not only enhanced the overall aesthetic but also reduced structural load and improved the longevity of the roof covering.
Bespoke Joinery Detailing
A key feature of this project was the inclusion of specialist roofline joinery. Our in-house team designed and manufactured marine plywood barge boards, precision-cut to achieve a clean, high-quality finish.
Crafting these elements internally ensured consistency, durability, and a level of detail aligned with the overall specification of the project.

Alongside the visual transformation, the roof structure was enhanced to meet current building regulations. High-performance insulation was installed, significantly improving thermal efficiency and ensuring the property meets modern compliance requirements.
